Now my interview with Aliyah Burke.....

1. What made you decide to become a writer of interracial romances?
I always wanted to be a writer. And I was becoming tired of the same old storyline of woman who needs a man to save her; I decided to create one where the woman ends up with the man because she wishes to. Because she loves him and he loves her. As far as the interracial aspect it just seemed natural to me. It is easiest for me to write what I know and experience, that true love is colorblind.

2. What is your favorite part about your writing routine? Is there one thing you have to do before you can start a book?
I like how relaxed I feel after and during it. Especially after work, ‘cause Lord knows I need to relax after that. And all the different color of pens that I get to play with and use during edits.
Before I can start a book I have to have a fresh notebook. I get easily sidetracked if there is previous writing in a place I am looking to create in.

3. If you could pick any of your males to come to life who would it be and why?
Now that’s a loaded question Marie. I love all my males. There are aspects of each and every one of them that draw me to them. So I don’t know if I could answer that. Plus my husband will read this.

4. Out of all of the books you have written who is your favorite hero and heroine?
Wow, another tough one. I honestly don’t know. They all have special places in my heart. Tyson is near the top and so is Jayde. But I couldn’t pick one of each with a definite certainty.

5. Do your characters continually talk to you or can you turn them off anytime that you want?
The women are for the most part silent. The men…well let’s just say I wish I had a mute button for them at times. They are on 24/7 and there are times they drive me nuts. The men run my life, waking me up at all hours to work on their story. You know how they are. So while I wish I could, I would miss them if they were gone.

6. I heard that you recently signed book contracts with Ocean’s Mist Press how excited are you about that?
Extremely excited. I am new to this world of e-publishing and am very thrilled to now be a part of it with OMP. And I am in very good company, congrats on your contracts with them as well.
The hero in this book just “appeared” in my head one day demanding his story be told and so I listened and here we are.

7. For the readers that don’t know you’re the wonderful author of “A Knight’s vow.” What made you write that book and are any more time travel books in your future?
Like with most of my characters, Marcus and Katrina just showed up one day. I love knights, horses, adventure and it kind of grew from there. I am currently working on the research for the second one that focuses on Nikolas, who is Marcus’ half brother. This one will be an IR time travel as well.

8. Is there one of your characters that you feel you relate to the best?
No not really. I see a bit of myself in all the heroines I have in my stories. I won’t tell you with what or how, but I do see it.

9. There’s no doubt that you’re going to be a hot up and coming author with the way you can draw a reader into your books. So, who do you think is going to join you in those same ranks?
Thank you for saying that. But I think it is more I am aspiring to join those ranks. I know you Marie will be there. You have a few books coming out with OMP as well. I am glad to see that. I really enjoy Shiree McCarver and Rachel Cade to name two. There are so many authors out there who are writing such amazing books it would be a privilege to be considered of the same caliber.

10. Your time. Tell us anything you want. What new books are you working on? Do you have a blog? Webpage? What’s does the future hold for Ms. Burke?
I am staying very busy working on more books. I have a few series that I am trying to get finished. And doing some research for others. Very busy.
No blog yet. I just started a yahoo group and am currently working on getting a webpage going. My future? Who knows, hopefully more published books. I am a military wife so my future is most often up in the air.
Thank you so much for asking me to do this, Marie. It was awesome and like usual it was great talking with you again.
